PRESS RELEASE

Douglas Cable Committee releases “Douglas TV” app for new Apple TV

November 9, 2015

The Douglas Cable Committee is pleased to announce the release of the “Douglas TV” app for the new Apple TV platform. Douglas TV provides residents another way to watch local government programming, now in the convenience of their living rooms. In addition to the new app, residents can view government programming on Cable Channel 192, the web (douglasma.org), and the iTunes Podcast Directory.

The Douglas Cable Committee is committed to offering open access to all public government meetings. The Committee and its staff records hundreds of meetings per year. All are broadcast on Channel 192 and made available online. The online archive dates to 2006. The 2000th meeting is anticipated to be placed online sometime in the next few months.

The Douglas TV app will be enhanced based on viewer feedback. Additional features may include live broadcasts, Public Access videos, and searching the full archive of government meeting videos.

Programming of the new app was donated by Mitch Cohen, Chair of the Douglas Cable Committee. Design and photography was donated by local photographer Phil Smith.

The free Douglas TV app became available simultaneous with the launch of the Apple TV App Store on October 29, 2015.
