Minutes
Trustee Meeting

Present: Joe Biagioni, Merritt Tetreault, Ellie Chesebrough, Barbara VanReed, Betty Holden, Ramona Lachapelle and Ann Carlsson.

Absent: Barbara Grimes-Smith and Danielle Morrow.

The meeting was called to order at 7:10 PM.

Minutes for the May 28th meeting were accepted with Tetreault abstaining.

Treasurer's Report
Lachapelle was asked to email the Treasurer’s Report to Trustees.

Director’s Report
Programming:
Summer Reading Program will begin July 8 and run for 6 weeks. Registration is underway and the response has been very positive.

The Library had a Zentagle program June 18th to which over 20 people attended. It was well received; several participants had never been to the Library.

Work continues on the next adult program. Currently under consideration is couponing, Civil War Reenactments or a ukulele program.

Front walkway:
Biagioni and Carlsson met with Facilities Maintenance Manager Ricky Colonero last month to discuss the deterioration of the front steps. Carlsson also spoke with Town Administrator Mike Guzinski who had asked to be kept informed. Mr. Colonero was asked to get quotes for the front walkway and to fix the steps. As of right now, the walkway will cost $900 in materials with the Highway Department doing the labor. Also needed is a floater, the person who does the finish work to the concrete walkway to level it and make certain the surface is correct so that people don’t slide on it when walking.

Year End Invoices:
Final invoices and vouchers should be ready tonight for signatures. There is a possibility for some additional ones to sign.

Other:
A flyer was received from Lucinda Smith for candles to sell for fundraising. Lachapelle may consider taking this on for Octoberfest.

Old Business
Building Renovation:
• Funding
Tetreault noted a fund raising collage by the Christian School for their new library. Trustees had not brought other ideas with them to consider for funding the Library project.
• Right of way/easement
Town Engineer Bill Cundiff has been on vacation and has not addressed this issue.
Sign:
Thanks was extended to Tetreault for the installation of the new Library sign. Tetreault reported that a video of the installation would be shown on Cable. There was much discussion about the lettering for the sign. Magnetic letters were mentioned and it was generally felt this might serve the need for the message board. Biagioni and Lachapelle agreed to serve on a committee to address the sign’s lettering. The dedication was scheduled for September 21st at 11 AM. Tetreault indicated a dedication similar to the one by the Municipal Center on Memorial Day would be appropriate with local officials as well as Senator Moore and Representative Fattman invited. Carlsson agreed to draft an invitation to officials.

Steps:
Biagioni explained the step issues. The walkway in front of the steps is in bad shape on the right side looking at the library, but is in relatively good shape on the left side. The cost in materials for repairing the walkway is $990. The coast for the floater expert is $290. It was voted unanimously to not to exceed $1500 to fund from LIG/MEG funds the repair to the Library walkway. The issue with the steps is that water is getting into the cement from underneath. If patching cannot resolve this issue, the Capital Improvement Committee will have to be asked for funding. More information is needed; Mr. Colonero is talking with an architect for a full analysis.

Director’s Review:
Biagioni asked that Trustees get their comments to him by July 11th on the Director’s achievement of goals that had been set for July, 2012 through December, 2012. He also asked that Trustees have goals for July, 2013 through December, 2013 for the next meeting.

Front Door:
Chesebrough reported that Ken Temple has agreed to work on the refinishing the front doors and that the Friends will pay for this work.

Other:
Biagioni has agreed to trim the lilacs and the tree on the street.

New Business

None.

The next meeting is rescheduled for July 16th.

The meeting adjourned at 8:20 PM.

Respectfully submitted,
Ellie Chesebrough, Secretary
