Director’s Report

Goals Update: The Blog, Facebook and the Website have all been updated.

Building Issues: An insurance report of repairs needed at the library had been received from Adam Furno. It was felt that those items to be addressed by the building renovations be noted to MIAA and that the items not addressed by the building renovations be addressed by Mr. Furno. Carlsson will follow up on this.

Financials: As a result of Chesebrough’s email about Octoberfest Grants a grant request was submitted for $2000 for tween programming next winter.

Sign: Two magnetic white boards from Amazon and magnetic letters from Magnatag have been received.
One posture printed at the Community Development is currently on display in the sign.

CWMARS: The use of the Over Drive media station involves the use of Book Sizzle for an online newsletter. The initial cost would require $300 for the software and the $1,199 CWMARS cost divided between the participating libraries.

Programming: Spring story time is over the first week of June) and full sessions were registered for almost every age group.

Old Business
Building Renovation
The final draft of the letter to Petraglia and Webster Credit Union concerning boundary issues has been mailed. Tetreault question the right of way issue with Petraglia and the Webster Credit Union; Biagioni offered an explanation.
Biagioni will meet with Town Administrator Guzinski for guidance and support concerning a Fall debt exclusion vote for the Library renovation.
The analysis from Dixon-Salo on the steps showed several options. Estimated costs for the stairs, platforms and piers was $5,200. Also included was walkway replacement at a cost of $6,250. Carlsson will check with Adam Furno if the estimate of $1500 for materials and a Floater was still valid from last year if Highway did the walkway. Carlsson will also check with Town Administrator Guzinski concerning work done on the library roof several years ago had a guarantee and if the portico had been repaired then. The Dixon-Salo analysis felt there was an issue with the portico that may be causing the disrepair on the steps. A motion to spend $5,200 to repair the steps was tabled until the June meeting for Carlsson to gather more information.

Friends
Chesebrough is working on getting the Friends group officially a non-profit with the Secretary of State’s Office.

New Business
Biagioni suggested a volunteer curb appeal program to spruce up the front of the Library. Work would include cleaning up the gardens, mulching, removing the old sign, possibly installing a flag pole, and following through on Tetreault’s suggestion to light the sign. He will contact Trustees when a firm date is selected.

Chesebrough noted that this year’s Town Report had a very nice piece on the new sign and the generosity of Merritt and Veronica Tetreault in their gift.

The next meeting will be June 24, 2014.

The meeting adjourned at 8:14 PM.

Respectfully submitted,
Ellie Chesebrough, Secretary
