Director’s Report
Volunteer and BVT senior in Multimedia Communications Eric Martus designed a beautiful new logo for the library borrowing inspiration from the Library’s sign donated by Pete and Veronica Tetreault. In July, 3,950 items were checked out. With the Senior Center, the Library is sponsoring Marjorie Turner Hollman, author of Easy Walks in Massachusetts on September 12th; after her talk and a feasting from a baked potato bar, those wishing will explore the Trunkline for a walk. On August 23 the adult coloring program will resume; staff member Maryellen Aubin will lead “50 Shades of Awesome.” On August 30 Professor Jerry Williams will begin an ongoing Tuesday program from 5 to 7 PM to lead the newly founded Douglas Chess Club for school-aged children. Reading to Cooper has expanded to four slots where children can sign-up to read to this very patient and interested canine listener. Lego Clubs are resuming after a summer hiatus. The Library is sharing a position funded through Project Able with the Senior Center, ten hours/week for each.

Old Business
• Building Renovation
-Snook is meeting with John Furno this week to discuss the parking lot.
-Town Counsel is looking into how much capital expenses spent triggers ADA compliance. The total assessed value of the Library is $410,600; the building is $292,000, the land is $117,600 and the sign is $1,000. Snook will try to get answers by the September meeting.

• Policies
Van Reed will compare Trustees work on policies from 2009 to what Snook is proposing. Policies will be discussed again at the September meeting.

• Friends
The Friends had originally agreed to pay for new bookshelves to be built by resident Ron Rocheleau, thinking they would be used by the Friends. Snook intends to use the space to display a circulating paperback collection and it was moved, seconded and approved unanimously to use $1,800 from Trust Funds to pay for the shelves. In other news the Friends sent out its first newsletter and it is getting closer to ordering T-shirts hopefully by Octoberfest for Friends to wear at the book sale.

New Business
• Trust Accounts
It was noted that the Vanguard Trust and the Unibank Checking accounts may need to be under the control of the Town Treasurer. Morrow will ask Lachapelle to bring to the Library the history of these funds so that the Trustees can determine how best to entrust them to the Town Treasurer.
• Municipal Modernization Bill
The bill will not go into practice until October/November 2016. It was moved, seconded and passed unanimously to have Barbara VanReed, Joe Biagioni, or Ramona Lachapelle to sign Library payroll and vouchers for FY 2017 when able.

The next meeting will be September 27, 2016.

The meeting adjourned at 8:40 PM.

Respectfully submitted
