September 18, 2018
Trustee Meeting

Present: Danielle Morrow, Ellie Chesebrough, Barbara Van Reed, Kate Anderson, Ramona Williams, Betty Holden, Dawn Fontaine, Daina Harvey and Justin Snook.

A quorum being present the meeting was called to order at 7:10 PM. The meeting began with joint meeting with the Board of Selectmen to appoint two Trustees to serve until the May Town Election. Dawn Fontaine and Daina Harvey were nominated and were unanimously accepted.

Minutes for the August 28th meeting were accepted unanimously.

Treasurer’s Report
A September 18, 2018 report noted a balance of $98,474.54 in Trustee controlled special accounts. Since July 1st $1574.18 has been expended from special account. The town appropriate funds for the Library for FY 2019 is $230,273. Of this total $52,735.65 has been expended. It was explained that the Mone Historical is for non-fiction books, that the interest from the Richard Douglas fund is used for children's materials and that the revolving fund was authorized at $2,500 at the Annual Town Meeting.
This report was accepted.

Director’s Report
Kanopy, video streaming service has been launched with six free streams a month to each user.
Douglas Orchards has invited the Library to participate in another storyhour on October 27. Morrow may be able to host.
Programs planned for the Fall include Wild Food Foraging, Halloween Balloon Show, a series of calligraphy classes, Dance Sensations and the autumn weekly Storytime.
Michael Giancola who recently passed asked that donations be given to the Library. His widow has asked that the funds be used to purchase science fiction titles.
A survey has been created online as well as in hard copy to be used as a resource of users wants for the long range plan. It was suggested to use Dynamic Douglas to publicize the survey and it is expected to receive responses through Oktoberfest.

Old Business
Building/Capital Projects
Side walk rail: The sidewalk rail has been installed for a cost of $687.42.
Air-conditioning: The air-conditioning system is on its last legs. Town Manager Matt Wojcik has been working with Snook to get Green Communities Act funding. An appraisal is needed and Renaud has been contacted to provide a quote.
Basement Posts: No permanent solution has been found to protect active children from hurting themselves on the posts
Donors: No donors have been found to support the Library's handicapped needs.
Five Year Plan: Snook is still working on this.
Friends: Harvey will be in charge of setting up and taking down the Oktoberfest book sale. Chesebrough provided a written guide with suggestions. It was emphasized that help was needed for when the items not sold are brought back into the Library.

New Business
Children's Room Rearrangement: Positive feedback has been given to the rearrangement of the Children's Room. Carpet Lover is being contacted to put down carpet tiles where book cases had been moved.

The next meeting is scheduled for October 23rd at 7:00 PM.

The meeting adjourned at 8:15 PM.
