Planning Board Public Forum: Planning for Douglas

One of the primary goals of the Town’s Master Plan is to ensure that the Douglas village area remains the civic, service and commercial center of the Town. Towards this end, the Town has retained the Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission (CMRPC) to evaluate the existing conditions in Douglas and recommend a plan of action for creating new economic development in this area, enhancing the village’s visual appeal and managing traffic flow through this area.

The public has a chance to participate in this effort by attending and participating in two public forums. The first forum in September will be a presentation of existing conditions along Route 16 and Douglas. The second forum in October will engage the public in a discussion of the options available for improving the Douglas village area. The forum dates and locations are as follows:

    • Existing Conditions Overview for Douglas: 09/25/07 - 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Municipal Center, Resource Room, 29 Depot Street.
    • Options for Improving Douglas: 10/23/07 - 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Douglas High School Cafeteria, Davis Street.

Please join us for these public forums to learn about the existing conditions along Route 16 and in Douglas, and help the Town decide what it wants for new economic development in Douglas, how to improve the village’s visual appeal and how to manage the flow of traffic through this area.

Your input is essential for this project and the future of Douglas village, so please attend these forums and participate!
