Town of Douglas, MA

The Soldiers Monument, located at the Town Common, was dedicated in 1908 to the memory of Unknown Soldiers and Sailors that were lost during the American Revolution, The Civil War and the Spanish American War. The Town Monuments and Memorials Committee rededicated the 3 inch Griffin Rifles that flank the monument on Veterans Day in 2014 with funding from a matching MA Department of Veterans Services grant. TREASURER & TAX COLLECTOR CLOSED NOVEMBER 14th

The Treasurers and Tax Collectors Office will be closed on

Wednesday, November 14th so that staff may attend annual training.

The office will re-open on Thursday, November 15th at 8:30 am.

If you would like to make a payment, you may do so online at https://www.douglasma.org

or place your payment in the black municipal drop box located at the bottom of the ramp in front of the town hall.

FY2019 TAX CLASSIFICATION PUBLIC HEARING

The Board of Selectmen will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, November 20th, 2018 at 7: 05 pm in the Municipal Center Resource Room, 29 Depot Street, Douglas, MA, in accordance with Chapter 369 of the Acts of 1982 for the purpose of receiving public input into the determination of the tax rate for each class of property for the Fiscal Year 2019.  All interested citizens are urged to attend and offer comment.

ANNUAL REPORT COVER PHOTO WANTED

If you have a high resolution photo of Douglas, portrait works best, email it to [email protected] by January 31, 2019.  The Board of Selectmen will select a photo for the cover, and all others will be used inside the report.

Photo ideas include, but are not limited to, a scenic landscape in Douglas, architectural features in Douglas, a Douglas monument, or a Douglas event.  Please, no photos of individual people.

COMMUNITY ELECTRICITY AGGREGATION PROGRAM – NEW RATE

September 20, 2018 – Dear Residents,

As the result of a negotiated resolution of a contract claim by Public Power, LLC, the electric supplier for the Community Electricity Aggregation Program, the price paid by participants in the Program for electric supply will increase from 10.122 cents per kWh to 10.430 cents per kWh effective with meter reads after September 15, 2018. This new price will remain fixed through the remainder of the term of the Electric Services Agreement, ending January 2021.

DOUGLAS SAFETY EXCHANGE ZONE

The Town of Douglas has created a Safety Exchange Zone in front of the Police Station. These 2 reserved parking spots will enable people to meet for property exchanges without the fear of being robbed or assaulted. The area will be monitored 24 hours a day by the Police Department and all activity in the parking lot will be video recorded. Special thanks to John and Adam Furno for erecting the signs and painting the parking spots.
